About Pomeranians
Welcome to Southern California Pomeranian Rescue

A Rescuers Creed

I shall be a believer of all that is good in man and of all that is deserving in animals. I shall plead for their lives, campaign for
their safety and uphold their right to a natural death. I shall seek out the injured and the maimed, the unloved, and the abandoned
and tend to them in their last days. I shall not forget their place in the hierarchy of life, nor that we walk in each other's paths.
I shall bear witness to the wonder they bring into our lives and to the beauty they bestow upon our souls. I shall renew their
spirits when they are waning, bind their wounds when they bleed, cradle them when they whimper, and comfort them when they mourn.
I shall be near them in their hour of greatest need - a companion and friend when the time has come. I shall watch over them and
console them and ask that the angels gather them in their arms. From the creatures of the earth I shall learn the fruits of
compassion and undying love, and I shall be called the beloved of God. In their company I shall indeed be blessed.

We are a non-profit organization. The adoption donation is used to partially recover the costs involved in
rescuing this dog. These costs include but are not limited to: Shelter fees, spay/neuter, food, housing, vaccinations,
de-worming, micro chip, and any vet exams or medical care that the dog may have required. We would not have
been able to save the life of the dog you are interested in without the adoption donation from another that came
before him/her.
All of the pomeranians that we take in are screened for behavioral issues and health problems prior to permanent
placement with their new mommies and daddies. Behavioral screening means that we check to see if they get
along with kids, the elderly, cats, dogs, and other animals. It also entails checking to see if they nip, are scared of
fast movement, are jumpy, don't like to be touched in certain ways, chew excessively, etc. Medical screening means
that we have them de-wormed, current on vaccines, free of parasites and communicable disease, are treated for
pre-existing conditions, and declared healthy within manageable limits.
Currently we are in need of volunteers to foster, transport, bathe, and care for pomeranians. Applications to
foster and adopt can be found on the corresponding pages.
Every day there are thousands of dogs put to sleep in local shelters and abandoned on the streets. Our mission is
to help as many of them as we can. Working with the City of Angels Pomeranian Club, we are hoping to save as
many pomeranians from euthanasia and abandonment as we can. These dogs are such sweet creatures and so
dependent on people that left to their own they could starve and die. More information about the breed can be
found on the About Pomeranians page.

Urgent Request For Donations!!!
Recently we had our "Star" who had to undergo surgery for her fractured leg.  This was completed on January 5th, 2010.  We still have a balance of $1000 owing on this account.  If you would like to sponsor her for the remaineder of her bill and her on-going rehabilitation please note that "Star" is your beneficiary in the comments section of your donation.

We are in need of funds for senior and sancutary dog care.  Donations of food, medication, bandages, medical supplies, bedding, crates, and housing are needed.  Without donations designated towards sanctuary dogs we are unable to accept intakes of high risk need.  We can only afford to support as many seniors and sanctuary rescue dogs as space and funds allow.  If you can donate to this cause we are able to provide insulin, thyroid medication, hair growth supplements, joint supplements, dental extractions, blood panels, and more to senior and aggressive or severely ill pomeranians.

You can make online donations through the link below and specify a certain pomeranian to sponsor or where you would like your donation applied!  Checks can also be sent to "S.C.P.R." at 1122 E Lincoln Ave #200, Orange CA 92865.  To designate where funds on checks should be applied please note your beneficiary on the memo line.
Special Thanks:
We want to also take a moment to thank our veterinarian team at Brookhurst Animal Medical Center.  We want to
especially thank Dr. Carlos Lopez, D.V.M. for his help with our severely ill seniors.  If you have adopted a
Pomeranian from us, it will likely have seen Dr. Carlos during its stay as he is very helpful in clearing our dogs for
adoption."

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

  • When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
  • Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
  • Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
  • Take naps.
  • Stretch before rising.
  • Run, romp, and play daily.
  • Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
  • Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
  • On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
  • On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
  • When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
  • Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
  • Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
  • Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
  • If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
  • When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
  • Being always grateful for each new day and for the blessing of you.
  • ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!
A Foster Dog Poem
A poem to my foster dog I am the bridge Between what was and what can be. I am the pathway to a new life.
I am made of mush, Because my heart melted when I saw you, Matted and sore, limping, depressed, Lonely, unwanted, afraid to love.
For one little time you are mine. I will feed you with my own hand I will love you with my whole heart I will make you whole.
I am made of steel. Because when the time comes, When you are well, and sleek, When your eyes shine, And your tail wags with joy Then comes the hard part. I will let you go--not without a tear, But without a regret. For you are safe forever-- A new dog needs me now.

Do I Go Home Today?
My family brought me home cradled in their arms.
They cuddled me and smiled at me and said I was full of charm.
They played with me and laughed with me and showered me with toys.
I sure do love my family, especially the girls and boys.
The children loved to feed me, they gave me special treats.
They even let me sleep with them - all snuggled in the sheets.
I used to go for walks, often several times a day.
They even fought to hold the leash, I'm very proud to say.
These are the things I'll not forget - a cherished memory.
I now live in the shelter-without my family.
They used to laugh and praise me when I played with that old shoe.
But I didn't know the difference between the old ones and the new.
The kids and I would grab a rag, for hours we would tug.
So I thought I did the right thing when I chew the bedroom rug.
They said that I was out of control, and would have to live outside.
This I did not understand, although I tried and tried.
The walks stopped, one by one; they said they hadn't time.
I wish that I could change things, I wish I knew my crime.
My life became so lonely, in the backyard, on a chain.
I barked and barked all day long to keep from going insane.
So they brought me to the shelter but were embarrassed to say why,
They said I caused an allergy, and then they each kissed me goodbye.
If I'd only had some classes, as a little pup.
I wouldn't have been so hard to handle when I was all grown up.
"You only have one day left." I heard the worker say.
Does that mean I have a second chance?
Do I go Home today?

A howl can mean many things, from happiness to sad.
He howls when alone and hurt or overall just mad.

You scold him when he acts this way, tells him that he's bad.
But when you look deep in his eyes, you see that he's just glad.

When your around, he can't hold back, filled with so much joy.
You finally realize, he's more than just a toy.

Cradled in your swaying arms, a tear falls to his nose.
You realize, right then and there, your the one he chose.

So think next time you scold your dog for all his calls and cries.
You'll long to hear him once again, in time for last good bye's.

~Alice Bennett

In early youth I made a vow
That if to Cupid I should bow,
The one for whom he aimed the dart
At my desired, unclaimed heart,
Must have brown eyes; large, soft brown eyes.

Time came when eyes looked into mine;
Large, soft brown eyes that seemed to shine
With intellect. Did I succumb?
Oh yes! for though the lips were dumb,
Those lovely eyes I deemed a prize.

Within their depths devotion shone,
And as they gazed into my own,
They seemed to say, "My love is thine.
Please let me know that I have thine."
And Oh! I knew his heart was true.

My arms his snowy neck entwined,
And I rejoiced a love to find
So worshipful, so constant, true.
How oft they've thrilled me through and through,
My collie's wise, large, soft brown eyes!

We have a secret, you and I,
That no one else shall know,
For who, but I can see you lie,
Each night, in fireglow?
And who but I can reach my hand
Before we go to bed,
And feel the living warmth of you
And touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths,
And see, ahead of me,
Your small form racing wit the wind,
So young again, and free.
And only I can see you swim
In every brook I pass.
And, when I call, no one but I
Can see the bending grass.
